In a wild and stunning turn of events, former U.S. President Donald Trump was grazed in the ear by a gunman at a campaign rally on July 13. The FBI has identified the shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, age 20, from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, and is currently conducting an investigation. According to the FBI, he acted alone and is treating this case as a potential act of “domestic terrorism.”

The 78-year-old former president was whisked from the stage with blood smeared across his face following the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania. One bystander and the shooter were killed; two other spectators are in critical condition.

“President Joe Biden says “we can’t, we must not go down” the road of political violence in America after Saturday’s attempted assassination of Donald Trump.”

The 20-year-old man who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump did catch the attention of law enforcement Saturday at a rally because some people in the crowd grew suspicious over the man’s weird behavior outside the campaign event. Off-duty, the tip set in motion a frantic manhunt by the cops, with whom he could not get the man before getting onto the roof and starting firing.

The investigators were looking for any clue to what might have set Thomas Matthew Crooks, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, off on this shocking attack on spectators, one of whom became a fatality. The FBI is treating it as a potential case of domestic terrorism. But so far, a clear ideological motive has not come through, opening the floodgates for conspiracy theories.

“I urge everyone—everyone, please, don’t make assumptions about his motives or his affiliations,” President Joe Biden said in Sunday comments from the White House. “Let the FBI and their partner agencies do their job. I’ve instructed that this investigation be thorough and quick.”

Former President Donald Trump is urging unity and toughness on July 14, just as an attempt on his life injected fresh uncertainty into what had long been an already tumultuous presidential campaign, while President Joe Biden implored citizens to “cool it down” in the final stretch and “resolve our differences at the ballot box.”

The opponents’ statements followed an attack that shook the foundations of the American political system, imposing at least a temporary détente in a heated presidential campaign. The campaign is expected to resume below the radar screen of pageantry that will follow the upcoming Republic National Convention.

Ex-President Donald Trump has dramatically rewritten the speech he is set to give at a convention this week, originally crafted as an attacking trope on President Joe Biden’s policies, to now focus on calling for national unity after an attempted assassination on Saturday.

In an exclusive interview with the Washington Examiner, Trump now reflected on the incident, underscoring that what he had in mind at the moment was to connect the nation by saying, “The speech I was going to give on Thursday was going to be a humdinger.”.

“Had this not happened, this would have been one of the most incredible speeches, aimed mostly at the policies of President Joe Biden. Honestly, it’s going to be a whole different speech now.”

Trump managed to stay remarkably grateful, appreciating all Americans across the board, from the moment correspondences began to pour in after narrowly escaping an assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally. “That reality is just setting in,” he acknowledged. “I rarely look away from the crowd. Had I not done that in that moment, well, we would not be talking today, would we?
