In a shocking incident that has left Mumbai reeling, a BMW hit-and-run case revealed that the victim, Kaveri Nakva, was dragged for 1.5 km after being hit by the accused, Mihir Shah. Shah, the son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, had visited a pub in Juhu before the incident. A total of 14 police teams have been deployed to apprehend him.

The tragic event unfolded when Kaveri Nakva and her husband, Pradik Nakva, were riding a two-wheeler. A speeding BMW collided with their scooter, and the driver fled the scene. It was later discovered that Mihir Shah, with another passenger named Bidawat, was responsible for the incident.

CCTV footage presented in court showed a horrifying sequence where “Mihir Shah and Bidawat pulled the woman off the bonnet, placed her on the road, and then mowed her down again while reversing the luxury vehicle,” according to PTI reports.

After the initial impact, “they dragged her from Worli to just before the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL),” an official stated. There, they stopped the car to remove Kaveri, who had become entangled in the tyre. Bidawat then took the driver’s seat and reversed the car over her, fleeing the scene immediately after.

The getaway vehicle stalled near Kala Nagar. Mihir then called his father, Rajesh Shah, from Bidawat’s phone to inform him about the accident. Rajesh Shah arrived in a Mercedes, instructed Mihir to flee, and later attempted to tow the BMW from the location.

In response to the incident, the Mumbai police have formed 11 teams and involved the Crime Branch to locate Mihir Shah. A Look Out Circular (LOC) has also been issued against him. Reports indicate that Mihir Shah traveled from Kalanagar to Borivali, the northern end of the city, after the incident.

This tragic incident in Worli comes shortly after another high-profile case in Pune, where a 17-year-old boy, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, crashed his Porsche into a motorbike, killing two software engineers.

In a related development, another hit-and-run incident occurred in Pune late on Sunday night, resulting in the death of a 43-year-old policeman in the Pimpri Chinchwad area.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde addressed the rising hit-and-run cases on Monday, vowing that no individual involved in such incidents would escape justice as long as he remained in power.

The Mumbai police have intensified their efforts to capture Mihir Shah, the 24-year-old suspect in this case. According to official sources, Shah visited a pub in Juhu with his friends before the incident. Statements from three of his friends have already been recorded by the police.

Additionally, it has been confirmed that the accused communicated multiple times with his father, Rajesh Shah, after the accident. The police detained Rajesh Shah and another individual on Sunday for not cooperating with the investigation.

This tragic event underscores the severe consequences of reckless driving and the importance of accountability. Authorities are working tirelessly to bring Mihir Shah to justice.
