In a heart-wrenching incident at Bhayandar railway station, located approximately 32 kilometers from Mumbai, a man and his father tragically ended their lives by lying in front of an oncoming train. The entire event was captured on CCTV, providing a disturbing visual account of the tragedy.

The CCTV footage reveals that the father and son were conversing while walking along the platform as a train passed by. “Upon reaching the end of the platform, the two get down and can be seen crossing tracks.” The footage then shows them holding hands, crossing the tracks, and lying down on the railway tracks as the train rapidly approaches. Within seconds, the train runs over them, leading to their immediate death.

The incident occurred at around 10:30 am on Monday on platform number 6 of Bhayandar railway station, shortly after a local train departed from Bhayandar station in the Palghar district. The train was on its route from Virar to Churchgate when the tragic event unfolded.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Jay Mehta, aged 35, and his father Harish Mehta, aged 60. Both were residents of Nalasopara. “The reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained and police have registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation.”

This incident has left the community in shock and has raised several questions about the mental health and circumstances leading to such a drastic decision.
