Traffic in south Mumbai slowed as a massive crowd lined the 1-km stretch, eager to greet the victorious men in blue this evening after their remarkable T20 World Cup win in Barbados. Cars already on the road remained stationary, caught amidst a swelling crowd of lakhs.
The entire stretch from Nariman Point to Churchgate was packed, and the Wankhede Stadium reverberated with thunderous slogans and cheers from the waiting crowd. The cricketers arrived on an open-deck bus, specially brought in from Gujarat, ready for the parade.
As the Vistara flight carrying the Indian team landed at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, it was honored with a “water salute,” marking the celebration of the team’s victory.
Despite the weather, the crowd’s enthusiasm was undiminished, and the atmosphere was electric with anticipation and pride.
