IMD has predicted heatwave conditions in various parts of Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand today. From June 8–9, Uttar Pradesh and isolated pockets of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand will also experience heatwave conditions. Notably, Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh reached 46 degrees Celsius yesterday.

Rewa in Madhya Pradesh followed closely at 45.6 degrees Celsius, and Rohtak in Haryana recorded 45.3 degrees Celsius.

Delhi’s Palam area recorded 44.4 degrees Celsius; Sriganganagar in Rajasthan also hit 44.4 degrees Celsius; and Ludhiana in Punjab saw temperatures of 43.1 degrees Celsius.

In Mumbai, the Regional Meteorological Centre predicts a cloudy sky with light to moderate rain. We expect the maximum temperature to be around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum could be about 29 degrees Celsius.

The weather forecast predicts that Delhi will experience a partly cloudy sky with a duststorm, thunderstorms, very light rain, and strong surface winds today.

Karnataka’s meteorological department expects light to moderate rain and thundershowers in several districts.

These districts include Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Bagalkote, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Koppal, Raichur, Ballari, Bengaluru Rural, and Bengaluru Urban.

Additional districts are Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapura, Chitradurga, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Ramanagara, Tumkur, and Vijayanagara.

The weather department has issued an orange alert for heavy rains in Konkan and Goa on June 8–9 and in Madhya Maharashtra and Coastal Karnataka on June 9. They expect heavy rains in Assam and Meghalaya on June 7-8.

Over the next four days, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Vidarbha, and Madhya Pradesh may experience isolated to scattered light to moderate rains.

Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are also expected. The forecast predicts similar weather for Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand over the next 2–3 days.

“Very light to light rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–50 kmph) is very likely over Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi from June 5–7,” says the IMD.

“This weather is also expected in Uttar Pradesh on June 6 and in Rajasthan from June 5–8.”
