On the fifth day of the Paris Olympics 2024, Indian shooter Manu Bhaker added another accolade to her illustrious career. After becoming the first Indian to win multiple medals at a single edition of the Olympics by securing a bronze medal, Manu Bhaker paired with Sarbjot Singh to clinch another bronze in the team event. “On the fifth day of the Paris Olympics 2024, all eyes will be on shuttles PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, and HS Prannoy.”

PV Sindhu, the ace Indian shuttler, commenced her Olympic campaign with a resounding victory over Maldives’ Fathimath Abdul Razzaq. As the competition intensifies on Day 5, spectators will eagerly watch Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain, table tennis player Sreeja Akula, and Balarj Panwar, who will compete in the Men’s Singles Sculls Semifinals in Rowing. Badminton enthusiasts will keep a close eye on PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen’s performances.

In addition to Manu Bhaker and Sarbjot Singh, expectations are high for other Indian shooters. Four Indian shooters will compete in Wednesday’s qualification matches, aiming to secure their spots in the final rounds. Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar and Swapnil Kusale will participate in the 50 m rifle 3 Positions Men’s Qualification Round, while Shreayasi Singh and Rajeshwari Kumari will vie for success in the women’s trap qualification.

Unfortunately, not all news was positive. Philippines’ Nesthy Petecio eliminated Indian boxer Jasmine Lamboria from the women’s 57 kg round of 32 matches on Tuesday. However, Indian boxer Lovlina will compete in the prelims round of the Women’s 75 KG category on Wednesday. Additionally, Preeti Pawar will advance to the next round in the 54 KG category. India has fielded a strong squad of six boxers aiming for podium finishes in the Paris 2024 Olympics boxing tournament.

Nikhat Zareen has already made her mark, advancing to the women’s 50kg pre-quarterfinals. In a thrilling and determined performance, the two-time world champion defeated Germany’s Maxi Karina Kloetzer in a grueling 32-round bout, emerging victorious with a 5-0 unanimous decision on Sunday.
