Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended invitations to the leaders of Nepal, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan for his upcoming oath-taking ceremony this weekend.

The event is set to take place later this week, according to sources close to the developments, CNN-News18 reported on Wednesday.

Among those invited are Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Nepali Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth. Also on the guest list are Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.

Earlier on Wednesday, PM Modi expressed his gratitude to these leaders for their congratulatory messages following the NDA’s victory in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

PM Modi Tweeted:

In a series of tweets, he shared that he had spoken with each of these leaders over the phone.

“I thank Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her warm wishes. India and Bangladesh share historic relations, which have seen unprecedented growth in the last decade. I look forward to working together to further strengthen our people-centric partnership,” PM Modi said in a post on the social media site X.

He also confirmed his conversations with the Bhutanese King, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.

“Thank you, Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, for your call and heartfelt wishes. I look forward to continued collaboration between our two countries to further strengthen the special India-Mauritius relationship in my third term,” he stated.

The presence of these regional leaders at Modi’s oath-taking ceremony underscores India’s commitment to fostering strong diplomatic ties with its neighboring countries.

This gesture not only highlights the importance of regional cooperation but also sets the stage for continued collaboration and mutual growth in the coming years.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on his third term, the focus remains on strengthening partnerships and advancing shared interests in South Asia and beyond.
