As June 1 approaches, several significant rule changes are set to take effect, impacting various aspects of daily life. These updates include new driving license regulations, Aadhaar card procedures, LPG cylinder pricing adjustments, and bank holidays.
New Driving License Rules
Starting June 1, 2024, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will implement new rules for obtaining a driving license in India. Individuals can now take their driving tests at private driving training centers instead of government RTOs. These centers will have the authority to conduct tests and issue certifications for license eligibility.
Additionally, the new regulations aim to reduce pollution by phasing out around 900,000 old government vehicles and enforcing stricter car emission standards. The fines for speeding remain between ₹1,000 and ₹2,000. If authorities catch a minor driving, they will impose a hefty fine of ₹25,000. They will cancel the vehicle owner’s registration and bar the minor from obtaining a license until they turn 25.
Aadhaar Card Update
If you need to update your Aadhaar card, you can do so online until June 14. For offline updates, a fee of ₹50 per update will apply.
LPG Cylinder Price Adjustments
On the first of every month, oil companies revise LPG cylinder prices. On June 1, they will announce new gas cylinder prices. In May, they reduced prices for commercial cylinders, and there is anticipation of further price cuts in June. Additionally, petrol and diesel prices are expected to change on June 1 as usual.
Bank Holidays in June
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) states that banks will close for 10 days in June, encompassing Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays. Additionally, other holidays in June include Raja Sankranti and Eid-ul-Adha. It is advisable to check the holiday schedule before planning any bank visits.
