Nag Ashwin’s highly anticipated film “Kalki 2898 AD” hit theatres on Thursday and made a spectacular opening, amassing ₹95.3 crore on its first day. On Friday, the film continued its impressive run, collecting an additional ₹54 crore, as reported by Sacnilk. This brings the film’s total India net collection to an astonishing ₹149.3 crore.
Breaking down the collection figures, the Telugu version of the film contributed ₹25.65 crore, while the Tamil version earned ₹3.5 crore. The Hindi dub collected ₹22.5 crore, and the Kannada and Malayalam versions garnered ₹0.35 crore and ₹2 crore, respectively.
“Kalki 2898 AD” boasts an impressive star cast, featuring superstars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, along with legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. Disha Patani also plays a significant role in the film. The movie, released in multiple languages on June 27, has captivated audiences across the country.
In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee awarded the film 2.5 stars out of 5. He commented, “On the acting front, Prabhas leads the way, not only because the film revolves around him but also due to his commanding presence, which contrasts with Amitabh Bachchan’s towering Ashwatthama – the deathless warrior stands eight feet tall.
The latter’s voice, as always, is an integral part of his character. Deepika Padukone, portraying a central figure as a pregnant woman on the run, delivers a splendid performance. Saswata Chatterjee, as the villain who shoots lethal laser rays from his fist, has his moments in a film that often allows spectacle to overshadow the deeper messages it attempts to convey about humanity and the dangers posed by its own reckless behaviour.”
“Kalki 2898 AD” has proven to be a massive success in its initial days, captivating audiences with its stellar cast and grand spectacle. As the film continues to draw crowds, it is poised to break more records in the coming days. Don’t miss out on experiencing this cinematic marvel on the big screen.
