New Delhi: Newly elected BJP MP and renowned actor Kangana Ranaut was reportedly slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable at Chandigarh airport.

The incident occurred while Ms. Ranaut, who represents Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency in the Lok Sabha, was preparing to board a flight to Delhi.

The constable, identified as Kulwinder Kaur, was suspended following the incident, and a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against her.

The constable slapped Ms. Ranaut due to her “disrespect towards farmers,” referencing the prolonged protests against the now-repealed farm laws and demands for a guaranteed minimum support price in 2020–21.

Mobile footage was captured when Ms. Ranaut was surrounded by security personnel and conversing with CISF officers near the security check-in area.

According to sources, the CISF Commandant is currently investigating the matter and questioning the involved constable. Additionally, one of Ms. Ranaut’s aides has alerted local police.

Upon her arrival in Delhi, Ms. Ranaut refrained from speaking to reporters. Earlier in the day, she shared an Instagram post with the caption, “On my way to parliament. Mandi ki sansad.”

In a video statement on X later in the evening, Ms. Ranaut assured her followers of her safety but expressed concern over increasing terrorism in Punjab. She recounted, “I am safe. I am perfectly fine.”

The incident happened at the security check-in. The woman guard waited for me to cross. She then came from the side and hit me. She started throwing expletives. I asked why she hit me. She said, ‘I support farmers’. I am safe, but my concern is that terrorism is rising in Punjab. How do we handle that?
