A man accused of stabbing a 20-year-old woman to death in Navi Mumbai has been apprehended by the police. The victim, identified as Yashashree Shinde, had been reported missing before her body was discovered in bushes near a railway station in Navi Mumbai.
Mumbai: The police have arrested Dawood Shaikh, the alleged perpetrator behind the brutal murder of Yashashree Shinde. Shaikh, who was already acquainted with the victim, was detained in Karnataka’s Gulbarga district. The tragic incident took place last week, shocking the local community.
Yashashree Shinde had been reported missing, and her body was found in a bushy area near a railway station in Navi Mumbai’s Uran locality on Saturday. The discovery was gruesome, as her body showed multiple injury marks and stab wounds, suggesting a vicious attack.
“Our initial investigation suggests the woman and the man used to talk to each other. She was murdered when she went to meet him,” a senior police officer revealed. The police further disclosed that Yashashree’s family had previously lodged a case under the POCSO Act against Shaikh in 2019. The post-mortem confirmed that she was stabbed multiple times.
Yashashree resided in Uran and worked in Belapur, which is approximately 25 km away. The investigation into her death took a significant turn when Mohsin, another individual from Karnataka, was taken into custody by the Navi Mumbai police. Phone records indicated that he was in frequent contact with Yashashree, prompting the authorities to investigate his potential involvement with the main accused.
Mohsin is expected to be brought to Uran today for further interrogation as the police piece together the circumstances leading to this heinous crime.
