A tragic incident has struck Navi Mumbai as a 20-year-old woman was found murdered in the bushes near a railway station in Uran. The police believe that her estranged lover is responsible and are currently on the hunt for him.
Yashshri Shinde, who resided with her family in Uran and was employed at a company in Belapur, was reported missing on Thursday morning. “The woman had gone missing on Thursday morning after leaving home for the office,” a police officer stated. Her family, unable to reach her, initiated a search and eventually filed a missing person report at the Uran police station late on Thursday.
The grim discovery was made at 2 am on Saturday when the police received a call about a dead body found in the bushes near the railway station. Officers were dispatched to the scene, and the body was subsequently taken to the hospital where her family identified her. “The woman was identified by her family at the hospital following which a case of murder was registered,” confirmed an officer from the Uran police station.
Speaking to the media, Shinde’s father, Surendra Kumar, accused a man named Dawood Shaikh of murdering his daughter. The police suspect the motive could be a one-sided love affair that ended tragically.
A senior police officer disclosed, “The body has not been chopped into pieces but we have found multiple stab injuries on her stomach and back. We have registered a case of murder and if medical reports reveal that she was raped before being killed, we will add appropriate sections to the FIR.”
The Uran police have formed seven teams to track down the suspect, with the crime branch conducting a parallel investigation. Initial findings suggest that Shinde worked only half a day before her disappearance. “We suspect that the incident of murder took place around 3.30 pm or 4 pm on Thursday. We are checking CCTV footage to ascertain the facts,” said Inspector Pansare. “We have got the location of the suspect and have dispatched a team to trace him,” another officer added.
