Mumbai Hit by Heavy Rain and Dust Storms, Bringing Relief from Heat

Heavy rain and dust storms drenched Mumbai and its neighboring areas, paralyzing traffic across the city. The sudden weather shift on Monday afternoon also brought lightning, gusty winds, and thunder.

The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) issued a yellow alert for districts including Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Solapur, Latur, Beed, Nagpur, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. Consequently, they predicted thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) at isolated spots.

Mumbai is expected to see light rain and thundershowers. Additionally, maximum and minimum temperatures will hover around 35°C and 28°C, respectively, according to RMC.

The weather department issued an orange alert for Pune, Satara, Sangli, Nashik, Kolhapur, Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Jalna, and Parbhani, forecasting thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds (50-60 kmph), and possible hail at isolated locations.

Meteorologist Rushikesh Agre warned news of heavy rain and dust storms in Thane, Palghar, Kalyan, Badlapur, and interiors for the next two hours, urging residents to stay indoors due to high wind speeds of 40-50 kmph. Marathwada districts may witness thundershowers at many places with gusty winds (40-50 kmph) and light to moderate rain.

For Tuesday, Mumbai may experience hot and humid conditions in isolated pockets, while Thane, Palghar, and Raigad could see heat waves in some areas alongside the possibility of rain or thundershowers towards evening, according to RMC forecasts.
