Kolkata Knight Riders Makes History: First Team to Hit 200 Runs at Ekana Cricket Stadium in IPL 2024
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) blazed their way to a monumental achievement in IPL 2024, posting an impressive 235 for six against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their recent clash on Sunday. This remarkable feat not only secured a commanding victory but also etched KKR’s name as the inaugural team to breach the 200-run mark at the prestigious Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
The previous record at the venue stood at 199 for eight, held by LSG against Punjab Kings earlier in the season. Moreover, the highest score by a visiting team at the ground was also 199 for three, achieved by Rajasthan Royals during their victorious encounter on April 27.
Sunil Narine emerged as the catalyst for KKR’s explosive start, hammering 81 runs off just 39 deliveries. Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Shreyas Iyer contributed significantly with scores of 32 and 25, respectively, fortifying KKR’s innings through the middle overs. A blistering unbeaten knock of 25 runs from Ramandeep Singh further propelled KKR to an imposing total.
The formidable total proved insurmountable for the home team, as KKR clinched a resounding 98-run victory, sending them to the summit of the IPL 2024 standings. Led by Shreyas Iyer, KKR showcased their dominance on the field, affirming their status as frontrunners in this electrifying season of the IPL.
