The Haryana Roadways bus was reportedly speeding, which caused the driver to lose control, resulting in the vehicle overturning. Police suspect that unsafe driving conditions and possible overloading could also have contributed to the accident.
This incident follows a recent series of accidents in Haryana. Last week, four people were injured when a car rear-ended a truck on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway near Farrukhnagar. The family of six was traveling from Haridwar to Hasampur village in Rajasthan’s Sikar district via Gurugram after immersing the ashes of their father in the Ganga. According to the police, both the truck and the car were moving at speeds of about 90-100 km/h, as reported by the Hindustan Times.
Additionally, in May 2024, another tragic accident occurred on the same highway when a bus returning from Vrindavan to Nuh caught fire, resulting in the death of nine people and injuring 15 others. Nuh MLA Aftab Ahmed confirmed that the bus was transporting devotees from Vrindavan, and several elderly people, including women and children, were among those injured.
The recent bus accident near Panchkula highlights the urgent need for stricter road safety measures and better enforcement of traffic regulations in Haryana. As investigations continue, it is crucial for authorities to address the underlying issues contributing to such incidents to prevent future occurrences.
